NOTE: Photo shows P/N 6700 Mill Kit. Others are similar except for number of axes and which leadscrews are included. Drill blocks shown in lower right-hand corner. Round is for lathe bed or mill column, rectangular is for crosslide table or mill base and table.

Any existing Sherline lathe or mill can be converted to CNC-ready status with the available conversion kits listed in the dropdown menu below. The installation will involve drilling and tapping several holes to attach the stepper motor mounts. The kits include drill blocks that can be attached to the appropriate table or bed using the single existing hole and then two new holes are drilled using the block as a guide. The holes are then tapped and the new mount installed. Newer lathes and mills will already have some of these holes predrilled, meaning they need only to be tapped.

In the case of the mill column and the lathe leadscrew, a new leadscrew must also be installed. Complete instructions for the conversion are supplied with the kits. Note that any new Sherline machine can also be ordered from the factory with stepper motor mounts already installed. Go to the Lathes or Mills pages for descriptions and prices.

What "CNC-ready" means...
CNC-ready means the machine is ready to bolt on stepper motors and apply CNC control to them by means of a system that the user must supply. If you are not capable of developing your own CNC system, several aftermarket suppliers offer stepper motors, drivers and CNC software to complete the system. See our CNC Dealers page for links to aftermarket system suppliers.
